SHENANDOAH Sept 29 Sheriff Toole met with General Gobin at his headquarters amid reports the strike nears settlement. The talks reportedly discussed stationing troops and possible withdrawal after Sunday. Adjutant General Elliott said he was confident the strike would terminate soon and troops would be reduced.
Archiek Kin sauls was hanged for the murder of John Harring in Samp son county North Carolina. After nineteen minutes the sheriff lowered the body and a second drop was done at the physicians request to hasten death. The first fall tore open his wound as he tried to cut his own throat two weeks earlier. Life ended eight minutes after the second drop.
In Coldwater Michigan on September 29 wealthy farmer William E Nivison was buncoed assaulted and robbed of 5000 on a public road toward Coldwater. A well dressed man claiming to be Gosmer a Jonesville banker lured him to sell land then fled with the money aided by a second man.
