After a railroad commission meeting with the commission, General Counsel Bunn and Attorney Childs, all legal objections to the Northern Pacific operation of the St Paul and Duluth line were removed. The Northern Pacific is now the accepted owner of the Duluth branch which it had purchased earlier. The Minnesota suit seeking an injunction was dismissed by mutual consent.
In New York on September 14 no authoritative word on a German government loan is available in Wall Street. A report gains general credence that theGerman government is seeking to borrow 25 million dollars from New York Chicago and Milwaukee lenders. Part of the loan is expected to be paid for with gold shipments.
The Roosevelt party train left Brookings at a.m. en route to Watertown where an open air meeting drew a large crowd. Governor Shaw of Sons Senator Knute Nelson and Colonel Lee Stover spoke from the rear platform of the governor’s car on a pleasant day.
Acting quartermaster general received a telegram from Colonel Baxter at Galveston stating no more funds for filling in at San Jacinto will be needed as everything at this point has been destroyed and swept away.
