Cole Gets Eight Years For Globe National Bank Fraud

Charles H. Cole, president of the defunct Globe National Bank of Boston, was sentenced in U S court to eight years in Greenfield jail after pleading guilty to misappropriation counts. The district attorney said about 1.1 million dollars were borrowed in the bank’s name and concealed by false entries, despite restitution.

Five Fires Suggested Firebug Rampage in Duluth

In Duluth on May 15 a string of five fires from 10 pm to midnight caused terror. George Hayns was severely injured leaping from Hammel's barn as flames reached the structure. the barn burned down and an unknown man died in another blaze.
