In Watertown South Dakota on March 24 D H Smith deputy land commissioner oversaw Codington county school lands auction. Ninety eight parcels of 40 acres totaling 3929 acres sold for nearly fifty five thousand dollars with an average price above fourteen dollars per acre. The top bid reached twenty six dollars and twenty five cents per acre while the lowest was ten dollars. Most buyers were Codington county farmers or local landowners benefiting from the purchases.
