Washington June 80 The House finished reviewing the Mills tariff bill free list in committee with no amendments from the majority aside from Democratic proposals. Democrats hope to push the measure through with party support, while cross party agreement seems unlikely this session. Liberal Appropriations Considered for Territory Land Surveys

Washington report notes Senate Appropriations Committee plans to raise the Sundry Civil appropriation for public land surveys to 200 000 dollars. Million Dollars for Ashland Timber Plant

Railroads Seek Federal Injunction Over Iowa Rate Plan

Railroad companies petition the U S circuit court to block the Iowa commissioners from publishing a new rate schedule arguing the state law is unconstitutional. Northwestern railroads push 1888 line construction surge
