Farmoutt Minn June 27 Hon T B Clement received a cablegram from Venezuela announcing the accidental drowning of Walter Coffin of this city in the Orinoco river. He was with the Venezuelan party that left three months ago and was a brother in law of Dr A C Rogers of Faribault who is also there.
The steamer City of Key West arrived under guard of the revenue cutter Winona after leaving for Cuba with arms and a filibustering expedition. The Winona also captured the steamer Three Friends, en route to Key West. A large crowd greeted the ships amid Cuban and American indignation.
