Anarchists Honor the Memory at Waldheim Cemetery

In Chicago on June 26 a granite monument to five executed anarchists August Spies Albert Parsons Adolph Fischer Louis Lingg and George Engel was unveiled at Waldheim cemetery. Over 2500 people attended in a largely foreign language ceremony with orderly conduct and limited police activity. Speakers offered a mild protest against the government’s execution order rather than incendiary rhetoric.

Booths Niece Receives News Of Bequest In Hard Time

Aspury Parx New Jersey June 26 Marion Booth Douglass niece of Edwin Booth will receive a $10,000 bequest under his will. She sought township aid for herself and child claiming her husband Byron Douglass refused. He was jailed after bonds negotiations. she then withdrew suit. News of the bequest arrived hours later. In St Paul the state elevator site was chosen and bought for $11,000 with plans to be drawn immediately.

Twenty Thousand Dollar Blaze Strikes Huron South Dakota

A $20,000 fire hit Huron on the east side of Dakota avenue between the Dakota House and Brookway's store during the early morning. Alderman Norman P. Fuiry died in the blaze, his remains removed after flames were subdued. The Star restaurant, owned by H. A. Gilbert, was the origin, with an attempt to fill a gasoline stove while lit.
