Army Awards and Contracts in Minnesota and Dakota
The St Paul Press notes army awards by Capt. Davis for subsistence and transportation. Eastman & Phail of Minneapolis won a 1,000 barrel flour contract at 9.24 per barrel, with delivery to St Paul. Henry Poehler of Henderson won beef contracts for troops near James River, Dakota Territory at 9 cents per pound. L. B. Greig secured potato supplies at 59 cents. A. H. Wilder's firm won transit work on Ames River at 1.95 per cwt per 100 miles. Second District commutation under the draft totals about 150,000, with one third paid. Also reports a Kasota theft and a St Anthony burglary arrest, plus crop and sheep data from Henepin County and Crystal Lake births.
