All residents of Winona are invited to the opening of a new store on Third Street three doors east of the Postoffice. The event takes place on Saturday June 20 with citywide attendance encouraged.
A mob surrounds the jail at CulDeSac Ohio where a Black man named Howard is held after allegedly raping Misses Bache and Phillips near East Lafayette. Miss Phillips confirms the suspect, Howard, as the perpetrator. Miss Bache is alive but not recovering. The town roars with lynching threats.
