Johnstown Death Toll Estimate Remains High

The Times publishes the first accurate dead list for the Johnstown valley. Fully fifty previously counted as dead are alive. The discovered dead rise, but 9,500 remains the highest possible limit, with Johnstown proper possibly nearer 8,000. Identified bodies total 3,344, and hundreds more may never be recovered.
