A O U W Convention Opens in Milwaukee with Five Hundred Delegates

Milwaukee June 8 About 500 members of the A O U W gathered to attend the supreme lodge sessions spanning the United States and Canada. The supreme lodge committee met to arrange preliminary work for the convention while the Degree of Honor Women’s auxiliary amended its constitution to allow separate lodges to adopt a beneficiary assessment system. Destructive hail storms reported in Rogers and Granger Texas caused crop and property damage, with churches and homes unroofed.

Wreck on the Omaha near Hudson causes five deaths

A catastrophic collision occurred on the Chicago Milwaukee St Paul and Omaha line near Hudson Wisconsin as a westbound work train and a freight collided on separate tracks. Four Eau Claire men aboard the boarding car perished in the fire and two crewmen were severely injured. The wreck stemmed from disobeyed orders by engineer E W Brogan and the work train conductor who took the wrong track. Damage estimated at $60000.
