The New Jewel hotel in Winona talks of 65 large guest rooms with steam heat and fine bathrooms with porcelain tubs. It promises sanitary plumbing, dry and light sample rooms on the office floor, and a top quality table with seasonal delicacies. Rates start at 2 per day with liberal rates for permanent guests.
Water rents were due May 1 and must be paid to the Water Commissioner before June 1 or a penalty of 10 percent will be added. The Water Commissioner's office is in Steam No. 10 Simpson Block, not in the Odd Wellows Block as last year. Pay now to avoid the penalty.
A local grocer advertises pure groceries at reasonable prices. The notice highlights fresh strawberries as a specialty and invites customers to visit for “delicious” berries and other items. It promises to satisfy needs without empting pocketbooks.
