Senate committee in New York to probe meat trade.

Triumph Leads Southern Fisheries Sealing Fleet

Victoria, B. C. December 31 The sealing schooner Triumph sailed Saturday with an experienced crew as the first to depart for the Southern cruise. The Triumph was previously boarded last year by the revenue cutter Rush and reported the seizure of the Black Diamond. The fleet will follow in a few days and sealers show renewed activity despite last season's seizures and unresolved Behring Sea dispute. Several new schooners have been bought in Nova Scotia and are being brought around Cape Horn to catch seals, with more vessels departing for Behring Sea than ever before.
