In Wilkin county Minnesota Christofer Krone a Norwegian fisherman living five miles from Rothsay shows advanced leprosy symptoms his hair eyebrows teeth and nose have sloughed and he lives with his brother but another Norwegian brother died of the disease A second case Bjorgen Sjildrup from the same region is ill in Otter Tail county twelve miles from Rothsay A peculiarity noted is that scratches do not heal yet evidence suggests no contagion
The Keeley Motor company held its first annual stockholders meeting since 1884 in Philadelphia with about seventy five stockholders representing nearly 75000 shares. Mr Keeley presented a long report and expressed strong optimism about practical results and future success.
A Sioux delegation led by Sitting Bull plans to travel to Washington to oppose the Dawes bill. Fifty letters with about seventy five checks and drafts were taken from Tradesmen's Bank post office box. Police traced the theft to two six year old Russian boys who opened and distributed the letters among friends. A few checks have been recovered. the boys are too young for prosecution.
St Paul December 16 President Fisher of the St Paul and Duluth returned from New York where he attended a meeting of the road directors. He said the question of building the new coal docks on the west side of Rice’s point was not considered at the meeting.
The meeting discussed Ki Point property owned by the company suitable for docks, but no action was taken. The main aim was to declare a 14 percent dividend on preferred stock payable June 5. The Omaha line and the $6,000,000 bond issue were not pursued due to current money market conditions.
At Baltimore the American Federation of Labor debated establishing a New York daily on a cooperative basis. A protest over admitting New York Stereotypers union members sparked friction.
