Azinie Blazier of Bridgeport is reported ill in a West Virginia poor house after alleged assault by a Wheeling married man. Washington City reports from the commissioner of navigation indicate 19,123 vessels and 2,455,720 tons on the Atlantic and Pacific coasts plus inland waterways as of June 30 1885. Coastwise trade totals reach 15,918 vessels and 2,001,017 tons despite concerns. merchant navy ranks second globally and coasting fleet is the strongest if lake and river tonnage is included.

Washington News Nominates Postmasters in Several States
