A Prague mob clash with troops is reported with unconfirmed claims of four volleys killing 25 rioters and wounding many. Martial law reportedly imposed as well dressed riders marked German targets and rioters plundered jewelry shops and groceries while soldiers defended the city.
Prague reports show 10 000 troops deployed to quell riots in Smichow and Zizkov suburbs. Police clash with mobs leave two wounded, 90 arrested. Ambulance data cite four killed, about 150 seriously wounded, around 600 hurt. Twenty shops burned. mobs target German houses. Young Czechs parade with plundered jewelry.
Vienna reports ongoing parliamentary stalemate as Baron Gantsch holds the premiership and progress toward compromise stalls. The Times Shanghai dispatch says China seeks arbitration on Germany's demands and Russia will not intervene.
The filibustering steamer Dauntless reached Jacksonville at 2 p m after reportedly landing a large cargo of arms and ammunition in Cuba including a 12 pound Hotchkiss gun and quinine for insurgents. The vessel left Nov 10 for Savannah towing the schooner Jenny Thomas and had not been heard from since.
From Manzanilla reports detail the capture of Guisa by insurgent generals Rabí and Salvador Rios. The garrison of 180 men suffered about 90 dead or wounded, including the Spanish commander and his second. In a separate engagement near Pinar del Rio General Ducassi faced Spanish forces under General Bernal with over 100 killed on the Spanish side. Explosive bombs injured several Spaniards. Maprin dispatches say General Pando is alive and not killed.
Cripple Creek Colorado reports discovery of a vast surface ore seam on Copper Mountain with ore grading $10 to $15 per ton gold. The vein is near the surface and mined by plow and wheel barrow. Many mining men expect Copper Mountain to become a rich hill.
