Vast Palms estate triggers entail in will case

The will provides a $5,000 cash bequest to a poor relative and gifts to Catholic benevolent institutions totaling under 100,000. The daughter would hold an estate entail, making it inalienable until death without issue, while the son’s entail is inapplicable due to his marriage and children. Mss Palms and Francis F. Dam at Langley cotton mills wrecks rail line

A new dam at Langley cotton mills on the Charlotte Columbia Augusta railroad gave way Monday afternoon. Flood waters swept away half a mile of track on the Charlotte Les Augusta railroad and damaged the South Carolina railway. The costly dam and adjacent works are ruined and repairs will take at least a week. The cause is blamed on a violent earthquake believed felt Sunday night.

Wisconsin Protestant Sunday School Convention Opens

Delegates arrived in Milwaukee for the Wisconsin state Protestant Sunday-school convention. The three day session opens at First United church with B F Jackb presiding. Attending are Bishop C E Cheney of Chicago and Miss Roth of Lynn Massachusetts as papers on Sunday-school topics are read and delegates are chosen for the International Sunday-school convention in Chicago next June.
