Pekin correspondent George Morrison reports a lull in hostilities since July 18 as imperial troops retreat to meet relief forces. Duluth August 2 report notes nearly 70 million bushels received at the head of the lake for the crop year 1899 1900. Wheat receipts totaled 64 196 000 bushels, flax 8 900 000, with flax a record breaker and overall year receipts up from 1897 98 and 1896 figures.
In Fostoria Ohio on August 2 creditors of Foster & Co bankers and Hon Charles Foster will receive a dividend after seven years. Liabilities of Foster & Co totaled 864,86l.45 with assets of 29,172.89 to be disbursed, an 8.08 percent return. Mr Foster's personal liabilities stood at 421,000 with 13,146 to be distributed or 4.4 percent.
A blast at a railroad construction site in Duack town killed William and James Harkins, flinging them 90 feet and tearing their bodies. The incident occurred on Tennessee Copper company work.
