Washington April 27 The house committee on Indian affairs favored a bill to create a three member commission from each Congress house to study establishing a national reserve of about 830 000 acres comprising Leech Lake Winnibigoshish and Cass Lake reservations in Minnesota. An appropriation of 50000 was allowed.
Dispatches from Bloemfontein report General Ian Hamilton driving the enemy from a strong position at Israeli Poort in a turning movement led by Generals Ridley and Smith-Dorrien. Mounted infantry press toward Thaba N'Chu as Boer resistance thins and retreat to farms.
