Melvin Jolissen, 15, allegedly shoots his younger brother Clifford Jolissen at a Londonderry farm, then leaps from a second story window to flee into nearby woods. He is found Monday in Manchester after a daylong search, later confessing and offering no strong motive beyond playing with a loaded revolver. The tragedy shocks Windham County.

Chester Veteran Dies from Poison
Albert E. Reed a Civil War veteran from Chester died Friday night after taking Paris Green on Monday. He disappeared Sunday with his gold watch money and overcoat missing and was found despondent over personal troubles. Reed aged about 55 served in Company C 1st Vermont Infantry.
