No Chief of Police Missing Woman Porter
Mrs H W Porter of Central Street wandered away during a rainy afternoon. A man and policeman found her about three miles from home on the old road to Heattleboro in a weakened condition after exposure. She was brought home in distress, with $60 in money missing and no words spoken during the ride. The event prompted town officials to consider policing arrangements for the coming year.
