A large Sedgwick Post delegation attended a Memorial Day service in Festival Hall and paraded to West Brattleboro Cemetery to decorate graves. The program featured speeches by Masseck, reflections on Union preservation, music by the First Regiment band, and a procession through Main Street with veterans, police, and civic groups concluding with ceremonies at the Soldiers Monument and Prospect Hill Cemetery.

Death by his own hand: Leon Coates found dead near Providence
Leon B Contes age 20 of Providence missing since Thursday. His body found in a deserted For fer town home with throat cut by a razor. Items in pockets include a Harvard Brown scorecard and a note cremation ash scattering. Despondency due to poor health is suspected. Coates born in Wardsboro November 4 1860. He leaves a widow mother siblings and half siblings. Cremation planned in Providence.

Death of Bartholomew O Riley in Brattleboro
Bartholomew O Riley aged 72 died at his South Main street home in Brattleboro after a period of head pain. He was found by Mrs Moran and had been visiting neighbors on Highland Avenue before his death. Funeral services were held at St Michael's Church with burial in the Catholic cemetery. He was born in County Cork Ireland and came to Brattleboro 45 years ago. He worked in railroad construction and was married 44 years to Julia Buckley with one adopted daughter Mrs Moran surviving. He was described as generous and religious and had long been a respected citizen.

Official Calls Issued for Vermont State Republican Convention
The Vermont Republican State Committee issued calls for the state convention in Montpelier on Wednesday June 20 at 104 pm to nominate for governor lieutenant governor treasurer secretary of state auditor and attorney general and to elect a state committee man for two years. Delegates are apportioned by city and town with counties contributing based on votes for the governor in 1904. Primary delegate caucuses are set for Saturday June 0 1900, per state law. Windham County totals 62 delegates with town allocations listed. second district convention will meet in Montpelier Tuesday June 10 to nominate a candidate for Congress. District committee members are named.
