City plumbing board probes faulty work in public building

The local board, noting numerous defects in a public building, finds that venting and piping do not meet law and regulations. Dr. Caverly backs seven major noncompliance points and urges full vent system repairs, with costs likely borne by contractors under law. Public supper and social events follow nearby.

Brattleboro Street Railway plans stock and route changes

The Brattleboro Street Railway Co held its annual meeting at C. W. Wyiman's office with 270 of 400 shares represented. F. L. Hunt reported 8482,082 invested in construction, 84,000 profits, and 840,000 stock. debt remains. The line extended to the far ground and a new bridge and highway changes raised costs, though six months receipts were 811,386 with expenses 87,400, netting close to 4,000 after depreciation. President Crosby noted milder snow, potential power-cost cuts, and proposed a new power plant or better electric-rate agreement. Directors approved increasing stock to 875,000 in installments to cover debt, buy car house on Pine street, extend the line, and possibly build a power plant, with a vote unanimous. The annual meeting date was moved to the second Monday in August.

Social dances and parties fill Brattleboro week

The Brattleboro social scene includes Odd Fellows and Red Men dances, a card party, tea, and Valentine events. Mrs. Tripp hosts a party as Mra Hugh Adams and Miss Emily Guild stage entertainments. the North Street school leans into a leap year Valentine party. Rev Webb lectures on Uncle Sam. A Daughters of the American Revolution meeting and a Grange hall club ball highlight a busy week with prizes, surprises, and civic group gatherings.
