Brattleboro Christmas Celebrations Highlight Local Prosperity

Brattleboro enjoyed an unusually merry Christmas season with strong trade and heavy holiday shipments. The American Express company reported its largest business in history as 7,000 packages moved through town. Local churches and schools staged festive programs, charity drives, and carols for children, while residents visited homes of Episcopal, Baptist, and other faith communities. In Montpelier, police conducted Christmas liquor raids, seizing alcohol from three homes. one man, Mick Sullivan, is charged with keeping intoxicating liquor with intent to sell and posted bail at 800 dollars.

Tragic Crushed Between Cars After Engine Uncoupling

A man named Clough died after being caught between a coupling block and a freight engine while a wreck on the Boston & Maine line occurred.
