Successful opening of Home for Aged and Disabled
Informal opening yesterday drew nearly 300 visitors to Western Avenue. The Pellett Brothers of Worcester built the care home with a stone quarried from Wiantastiquet mountain and a front of four columns. Trustees described gifts, a 1892 plan, and the funding path including $10,000 from Charles Lamb and $5,000 from Henry Newman. Dr. H D Holton led the program and outlined admission policy tying payments to life expectancy and endowment status.

Death of Mrs Hoerriet Austin in Barre
Mrs Hoerriet Austin died Sunday at her daughter Mrs William Stewart’s home in Barre after a long illness from heart and stomach disease. Survived by three daughters Mrs Cressy Mrs Stewart and Mrs Sarah Dewey of Montpelier. Funeral services were held in Barre.

Diphtheria At The Retreat Affects Local Families
Diphtheria cases appear at Brattleboro Retreat with eight to ten patients in mild form. quarantines enacted and epidemic believed stamped out as no new cases in two days.
