Legion Holds Second Annual Hog Barbecue and Installation
About 120 attendees gathered at the local American Legion Saturday night for installation ceremonies and the second annual hog barbecue. A 250-pound ham donated by the Derry Pritchard family was roasted outdoors by Legionnaires, with Auxiliary members preparing most of the meal. Commander Lorensberg turned over his post to the newly elected Chegar as officers were installed. auxiliary officer installation was postponed due to illness. Guests danced to the Persuaders after the event.

Enlistee Dallas Warner Joins Army Unit of Choice
Dallas L. Warner of Greentown Indiana enlisted in the Army Unit of Choice per SFC Gary N. Biroth. He selected Basic Training at Ft. Knox Kentucky with post options across eight locations and will proceed to advanced training, 14 day leave, then service in Hawaii for at least 16 months. Distemper Cases Reported In Windfell Threaten Pets
Residents warned to protect pets after at least two dogs die from distemper in Windfell. The illness is highly contagious to dogs and can infect wolves foxes and other mammals. It spreads via shared utensils clothing and contaminated bedding and can remain infectious for days or years in certain conditions. Symptoms include fever dullness loss of appetite and four to eight weeks of illness. Owners urged to inoculate dogs contact a veterinarian and notify authorities if exposure is suspected.
