American Navy Prepares Landing For Cuba Invasion
The fleet has thirty miles of shore near Santiago de Cuba prepared for troop landings. Sir Sampson’s ships patrol the coast between Santiago and Guantanamo with Marblehead Oregon and Yankee guarding Guantanamo harbor. A convoy of sixteen warships led by the Indiana readies to protect troops to Cuba. the cruiser St Louis has captured a Spanish merchantman near Kingston. Secretary Alger says the army will be fully equipped in two weeks and Washington reports the City of Pekin party has seized the Ladrone islands.
