Widescale Atlantic City Train Collision Kills Dozens
A Reading Railroad express crashed into a Pennsylvania excursion train near Atlantic City causing a mass casualty scene. Forty or more dead are anticipated as bodies are recovered and hospitals fill with the injured.

Granite shipments arrive for Handley monument progress
Four car loads of granite have been received at the Cumberland Valley depot with more expected. The monument work advances and should be completed in about a month, promising an imposing sarcophagus. Nearby, small boys sold one cent snow balls, earning profits this week.

Rebuilding of Old Opequon Memorial Church Near Kernstown
The ruin of the Old Opequon Memorial Church near Kernstown will be replaced by a handsome new edifice funded by generous memorial contributions from relatives of the interred. Thomas K. Cartmell organized the effort and plans include a tower with memorial tablets.

Railroad Picnic Draws Thousands at Harper’s Ferry
The 15th annual B and C Railroad Young Men's Christian Association picnic drew about 4000 to Island Park in Harper’s Ferry. E. E. Sheldon opened events in the pavilion with Rev. A. H. Thompson and Bennett Memorial Church taking part. Addresses were delivered by A Hawks of Baltimore Mrs. He Martin of Washington and Miss Jennie Smith the railroad evangel from Mountain Lake Park. Miss Smith spoke about her miraculous recovery after years unable to walk. Music accompanied by the orchestra of the Central Union Mission of Washington and Prof. George W. Havell officiated.

Fresh Air Children Train Sent by Baltimore Society
A special train carrying about 350 children dispatched by the Baltimore Fresh Air Society passed the B and O line this afternoon. The youngsters are bound for the Valley area, reaching as far as Harrison, where they will stay several weeks at farm houses.
