Big Undertaking at Evans Hotel Cess Pool
The Sarah Zane Fire Company pumped water from the Evans hotel cess pool from 9 40 AM to 2 30 PM yesterday. The flow persisted as an underground stream refilled the hole, prompting Capt Gray to suspend work and await developments. By this morning the water stood three inches below yesterday's peak, with the pool reaching about ten feet deep. Drainage from surrounding yards likely refills it and pumping may resume when wet weather ends.

Police Court Disturbance In Reuss Engine House Crowd
Last night about eight Tim Thompson, a colored man, and Ben Melton were arrested after a boisterous crowd formed at Reuss engine house. Justice Hodgson fined Thompson one dollar or ten days in jail for starting the disturbance. The report mentions a separate mention of a house to be built on Pall Mall street.

Union Bazaar Attracts Large Attendance Despite Competing Town Events
The Union Bazaar last night drew strong attendance with wheel of fortune and raffles. William L Wood donated four dozen fine roses while Miller Supply Co plans a staff supper as appreciation. Dynamite Blasts in City Well Causes Structural Damage
Thirty pounds of dynamite were placed in a bored well near this city at Mr. T. Cartmell's site and ignited by electricity. The blast sent dirt rock and water skyward, a rock breaking a roof in a tenant house owned by J. H. Chiaman and damaging a pig. The well reaches 180 feet with 160 feet of solid rock, experiment aimed to create a crevice to admit water.
