Fires Destroy Barn and Mills In Winchester Area
A March fire at Mrs. Margaret Kater’s farm on Front Royal road destroyed the barn for a loss of 1200 dollars with 200 dollars insured. Five horses and a cow perished and livestock buildings suffered extensive damage. A second major blaze hit Kern, Barr & Walters woolen mills causing about 10000 dollars in losses with 3300 dollars insured for the mill.

Gospel Service Held at Jail by Local Congregations
The regular monthly Gospel service was held at the jail yesterday afternoon under the auspices of the W C T U. J McCartney of Hagerstown addressed the prisoners in an impressive manner. Miss S J Repsher and Mr S F Garton gave a short talk. Singing was led by members of local churches with much spirit.

Fatal Accident Near Charlestown In Train Collision
A B. and O. train halted after a fatal event when George Johnson stepped onto the track as the locomotive departed Charlestown. He was struck and crushed by the engine pilot and died at his home about 11 o clock.

Anniversary Sermon Marks Stonesifer Sixth Year at Centenary Church
Rev. J. B. Stonesifer delivered the Centenary Reform Church sixteenth anniversary sermon noting growth from 30 to 78 members with 112 unconfirmed, 654 sermons in six years, 69 confirmations, 95 baptisms, 33 funerals, and 43 marriages. About $1,000 for benevolence and $3,200 for congregational purposes were raised, with final judgment hoped to reveal the fruits of faithful labor.

Bragg Will Probate Issued For Middletown Resident
The late G. W. Bragg's will, admitted to probate, leaves all property to his wife for life. After her death a $500 endowment goes to the M. E. Church South trustees at Middletown for pastor support. Half the remainder funds the Board of Missions and half the Randolph-Macon College as a permanent endowment. Judge E. D. Newman serves as executor with bond of $20,000.

Bazaar draws crowds at Friendship fair with bright prizes
A Saturday night bazaar at Friendship hall drew large crowds and steady activity with tables run by dedicated volunteers. Proceeds reached ninety three dollars as guests enjoyed wheel of fortune games and quick service. Donations included an umbrella from Feinberg Brothers and a gold pen from Miss Kinsey of Baltimore. fire companies and visiting groups pledged attendance, with plans for continued events next week then likely ending.
