Death of Mr Joseph Stine at 75 in this city
Mr Joseph Stine died at his home in the southern part of the city at three this morning after years of ill health. He was born in Frederick county Virginia and was a successful farmer. He married a daughter of the late John Harmon about thirty four years ago and leaves two daughters, a brother Isaac Stine a prominent farmer, and Mrs Elizabeth Stine who hosted the funeral. The funeral is set for tomorrow at three o'clock from Mrs Stine's residence on South Market Street with Rev H M White officiating. Interment will follow at Mt Hebron Cemetery.

Money for Tomatoes Signals Franklin County Cannery Venture
About 30 to 40 Franklin County farmers traveled to Martinsburg to collect payments for summer tomato shipments. J. W. Lovett paid around 1500 dollars to farmers including Eli D. Delinquent Land Syndicate Faces Legislative Notice
The rapacious syndicate will be checked by a February act requiring trustees mortgagees and lien holders against property bought by the Commonwealth to be notified by applicants. Some encumbered lands have been applied for without proper notice and insiders say most delinquent parcels carry mortgages. Yesterday the syndicate made eight city court applications.

Magistrate Brago nier heard warrants sworn by Zack Beemer against Geo Lee and David Jackson for assault at Orritk livery stables. Neville and McCartney arrested them. Evidence showed Beemer’s accusation false. the attacked party was guilty. Beemer fined 10 with costs and jailed ten days for nonpayment.
