Mob Attacks Couple Near Stephens City
About 6 30 yesterday E H Randall and Mrs Mary Merchant were attacked by a masked mob at Bartonsville bridge fourteen miles from Stephens City. Randall fired twice but likely without effect. The motive stems from Randall's earlier dual life and his separation from family, with Merchant brought along as keeper. Four horsemen and two buckboards led the mob, believed to be about eight men, who forced Scott to drive toward Winchester.

Captain Koontz Injured in City Runaway Accident
Captain Charles Koontz, a Clarke county resident and visiting this city, was bruised and shocked after a runaway wagon struck him near Water Street. He was taken to F Grove's store where Dr. McGuire attended him. A youth from Cedar Creek, Charles Windel, was also involved but unhurt. The team and vehicles caused further disturbances before being stopped by Hebron Nethtery.

Bazaar Opens Under Sacred Heart Church Ladies Plan
The Sacred Heart Church bazaar in the church basement began last evening despite cold weather.
