Blacksnake Attacks Nest Egg Thief in Henhouse
Mrs M W Trenary near Boyce reared many chickens and set a nest with a walnut wrapped in a white rag. A huge black snake coiled in the nest, was killed by her son Wheatley with a hoe. The snake measured 81% feet long and bore a lump in its throat suggesting an egg, which it had swallowed, leaving the nest thief dead.

Robbed a Boy While He Slept Near Mt Williams
Russell Carpenter fifteen year old son of Mr Bush Carpenter near Mt Williams was relieved of five dollars Tuesday night while sleeping after apple picking work paid by Mr John Thwaite. Deserted couple jailed for fines in Berryville incident
A Boyce dispatch to The Evening Star reports John Hilliard and Mrs Frank Golliday were jailed for contempt after being found public nuisances. Hilliard, a farm hand, had earlier induced the woman to leave her husband. The pair travelled through Winchester and Martinsburg before settling in Boyce and arrest followed when locals refused to tolerate them.
