Playwright Miss Emma Howard Wight will debut her work in New York next season. The title story Phe, Casting of Stones deals with judgment of a woman who sins and repents. Wight also finished several comedies including Can the Ethiopian Change His Skin about the education and status of the Negro.
The September term of Warren County Circuit Court convened in Front Royal with Judge T. W. Harrison presiding. Judge Sam Williams of Wytheville delivered the first Democratic stamp speech of the campaign, drawing a large crowd and a hearty reception as he offered services to the state executive committee chair.
The Uncle Hez company arrived this morning and led a street parade through the city. A concert will follow the parade and pre show at the Auditorium this evening.

In Winchester Virginia the court to appoint John M Steck as Commissioner in Chancery to appraise the estate of the late Geo W Brent and to report on real and personal assets liens taxes legatees and creditors. The order requires notice by weekly newspaper publication for four weeks and attendance of interested parties on September 19 1908. The proceeding date is August 15 1908 with attorney M M Lynch.

Henry Neville a seventy ninth year old inmate at the county parish farm remains under county physician Dr. G L Miller care after an assault by Owen Fuller. Though recovery is expected earlier fears of fatal injuries were raised. Fuller is jailed awaiting October grand jury action.
Mr and Mrs W H Zimmerman of Clifton Forge Virginia are registered at the Hotel Evans. Mr and Mrs J S Pine of Lebanon Church spent the day here with friends. Rev Dr F M Woods pastor of Martinsburg Presbyterian Church spent the morning here on his way to Staunton. Miss Margaret Atkinson of Staunton Virginia has been the guest of friends in this city.
Miss Daisy Ritter and Miss Etta Orndorff were elected at Market St Rink Saturday night to the gold watch grand Skating Contest on September 19. Local social notes list visitors and residents from Washington and Lee University, Baltimore, Pittsburgh and Cumberland with travels in Winchester and the Shenandoah Valley.
