Col C R Paul a prominent Union Army veteran died Saturday at his Philadelphia home. Enlisting as a private in the Seventh New Jersey Volunteers at the Civil War start, he was mustered out as brevet lieutenant colonel. He held brevets for gallantry from Petersburg and major of volunteers for actions before Richmond and at Winchester Fisher's Hill and the Shenandoah Valley.

Confederate Veteran Abraham Peters Dies at 70
Abraham Peters, aged 70, Confederate veteran, died at his home near Stephens City this morning. He was a small farmer and is survived by three sons and one daughter. The funeral is set for one o'clock tomorrow afternoon at Green Hill Cemetery with Rev. J. W. Strickler officiating.

Winchester Firm Wins Large State Normal School Contract
A Winchester firm led by Mesars, Hunter B Grim and Edward Haymaker secured a major contract for foundation and brick work on the State Normal School building at Shepherdstown West Virginia. The project costs about 510000 and requires about one million bricks. The building measures 167 by 107 feet, four stories tall, with limestone foundation and Ohio sandstone trim. Contractors have ten months to finish, weather excluded, with about twenty men, some from Winchester, living in Shepherdstown during the project.

Mr Foard B Burke aged 81 died at home 1521 East Preston Street Baltimore following a brief illness. He is survived by a widow two sons and four daughters. The interment will be in Bristol Pennsylvania.
Freight Wreck Delays B&O Train Near North Mountain
A Baltimore and Ohio freight wreck near North Mountain at noon Saturday derailed eight loaded cars from train 98. The wreck blocked all three tracks until late Saturday night, delaying the Winchester accommodation due in at 9 01 p m and causing some trains to be moved to the Cumberland Valley line.
