At 11:30 this morning auctioneer ER L Hodgson offered blocks of stock by decree of the March Circuit Court in the Williams Adm'rs versus D W Barton ex'or case. Town and county business men attended as bids rose on Winchester and Martinsburg Turnpike stock and other turnpikes, with several blocks sold to Clark Cather, T Shumate heirs, and Geo W Hammond estate. Shenandoah Valley Bank stock drew sharp initial bidding before John J Williams bought 10 shares in two blocks. last year the bank paid 13 percent in dividends. Winchester Gas & Electric Light stock变化 bids stalled at $25 per share with James B Russell securing the lot. the sale stands as the largest of its kind in years in the area.

A Cedar Creek road barn owned by James Smith on Dr. W A Bell farm was struck during a heavy rain storm. The bolt entered the roof, sparked a rafter, exited through the eaves, and flowed into the ground. Five horses inside stampeded but were uninjured.
