The Gen Turner Ashby Chapter of the Daughters of the Confederacy met to finalize observance plans for the Sixth of June. Rev J Gray McAllister will speak, Rev E E Norton will lead prayer, and Dr James Grammer will deliver the benediction. Members urged grave decoration at Stonewall Cemetery without invitation and adopted memorial resolutions for Mrs Lewis H Hyde and Miss Mary B E Kurtz.

Marie and Helen Woodward, daughters of Mrs Bessie Woodward, killed a large moccasin they found in their path. The snake measured three and a half feet. The girls carried the carcass home, proud of their victory.

Lineman F. W. Weber Survives Serious Buggy Accident
United Telephone lineman F. W. Weber, working near Winchester, was thrown from his buggy after a shaft broke on the Millwood road by the Opequon. He suffered facial cuts and head bruises but quickly restored the horse and drove to Winchester to dress his wounds. His wife escaped injury and they continued toward Clarke county.

Court hears injunction in Horsey and Atwell v Ann Maria Smith case
In the Corporation Court Judge William M. Atkinson heard the injunction dispute involving Ann Maria Smith a colored woman and Horsey and Atwell over a west Cecil street property. Attorney Holmes Conrad Jr argued for Smith contending the amendment to Code section 2465 protects possessors with non recorded titles. Judge Atkinson took the case under advisement and Conrad received praise for his masterly argument in support of strict statutory construction.

Reward Offered for Arrest of Mare and Buggy Thief
