Fire destroys dwelling near Mucheway Jefferson Co Va
The frame dwelling of Eugene B Timberlake two miles south of Mucheway Jefferson County Virginia burned down at noon today due to a defective flue. Mrs Timberlake and a colored girl were in the house. the girl saved only a few items. Timberlake formerly lived in Winchester and worked at Hotel Evans.

Revolutionary War Sword Hilt Exhibited By Optician Von Witt
Dr Charles J Von Witt displayed a solid silver hilt from a sword once given by General George Washington to a Tucker family member. The relic bears Washington's initials and was purchased from a jeweler who vouched for its history. The hilt, engraved on both sides, is broken at the guard and will be repaired.
