Baltimore and Ohio Rail gains West Virginia line

The Baltimore and Ohio Railroad announced it has acquired the Hampshire Southern Railroad, a 39 mile line from Romney to Petersburg, West Virginia. The purchase allows through service via Green Spring to Petersburg starting July 1, linking Romney with the Eastern trade centers and opening a mineral and agricultural development corridor. Hampshire Southern had been built with West Virginia capital and connections to the Greenpringe line at Romney.

Miss Henning Bridesmaid at Chester Wedding and Film

Florence Henning of Winchester served as bridesmaid at the Chester Maryland wedding of Miss Magdalene Pryor to Dr Ralph Meadden. Shenandoah Valley Bank Stock Fetches High Auction Price

Thirty shares of Shenandoah Valley National Bank stock in Winchester sold at 230.50 a share at public auction. Auction by Lynch for estate of Mary Hockman. Kinzel, postmaster, bought the lot. Young Clark County boy injured by dynamite cap blast

Marvin Kitchen, eight, son of Mr and Mrs Wise Kitchen of near White Post Clarke County Virginia, is recovering at Winchester Memorial Hospital from injuries when a dynamite cap exploded as he tried to drive a nail through it. The blast tore fingers from his left hand and lacerated others. Doctors treated him and expect his return home next week.
