Jailbird Tyler Recaptured After Winchester Escape Attempt

Tyler, an escaped jailbird, is recaptured at Vaucluse Station, with Jailor Louis Armel and officers pursuing. He had previously escaped by locking wife and Miss Locke in his cell. Cadwallader and others identified him in time, gun drawn, and Tyler was returned to Winchester jail by 10 pm amid a crowd of officers.

Three Engines Collide on B E O W R R Delays Train

A Winchester and Baltimore accommodation arrived after a three hour delay following a freight wreck at Waterville Carral Md. A large freight train struck a yard engine, killing Engineman Francis Vooryaman of Baltimore and injuring several others. Wrecking crews cleared the scene as dawn approached.

Two Funeral Services for Mrs Croghan in Philadelphia

Two services for Myrtle McIntoshghan Croghan will be held at her mother’s home and at the Church of the Sacred Heart. The first service at 5 p.m. will be led by Rev. W. H. Carter, and the second at 10 a.m. Friday will be conducted by Rev. John McVerry. Interment is in Mount Hebron Cemetery.

Mystery surrounds Harpers Ferry death of Alma Mumma

Alma Mumma a nineteen year old of Hagerstown died yesterday morning in Harpers Ferry under mysterious circumstances with officials alleging possible premature childbirth. Hoffman a 22 year old Western Maryland Railway employee longtime suitor is in custody awaiting coroner's inquest. The girl's remains will be sent to Williamsport for burial.
