Wise Found Guilty of Murder in Second Degree
The jury convicted John H. Wise of second degree murder for the Moorefield killing of George W. Walker. Wise claimed self defense after Walker attacked him at his home while Walker was intoxicated, saying the stab was accidental. The state argued deliberation and premeditation, with a largely circumstantial case. Walker, about 24, had been paying attention to Wise’s daughter. Wise, about 60, faces 4 to 18 years hard labor in state prison.
