Slick Thief Steals from Mr Williams
Mr. Martin Williams of Chambersville reports a theft last Saturday. He had bought several pairs of ladies hose from C. E. Hantsberry and placed the package in the coat pocket. While watching bees on P. Grove's roof, the hose were lifted by a thief described as a booze-gratter.

Lightning Fatality at Telephone Claims Rader Life
Alfred Thruston Rader 25 son of Dr W H Rader of Denver was killed instantly by lightning while using a telephone during a thunderstorm in Georgia. He will be laid to rest at Mount Hebron Cemetery in Winchester after services conducted by Rev J Gray McAllister. Rader hailed from Virginia and left a sister and brother along with his father. The death closes a promising career shadowed by sudden tragedy.

Auto strikes horse near Hahn's mill in county
An unknown automobile traveling well over the speed limit struck George Millers horse near Hahn's mill last night. The horse was shot this morning after being hurled to the roadside. the car sped away and left no trace or clues to its occupants, believed to be from out of town.

Costly Asphalt Plant Destroyed in Kansas City Fire
Fire at the Parker Washington Asphalt Paving Company plant on Penn street, Kansas City, destroyed the plant and seven West Twenty-third street dwellings. Estimated loss 30,000 with 150 tons of asphalt damaged. Barns burned, two horses died, three hundred fifty workers out of employment until rebuilt. Company contracts total about 750,000.

Tragic Drowning In Potomac Near Alexandria
Miss Virginia Downer 18 of Norfolk drowned last night in the Potomac opposite Alexandria while canoeing with Jack Burke. Burke was rescued. a long search by boatmen failed to recover her body. Downer was visiting Miss Bessie Jones in Winchester with family ties to ex-Rover Holliday.
