A special grand jury in the corporation court found a felony indictment against Joseph Whitestein alias John Pierce for entering Habi e s clothing store May 14 taking mileage books about 26 dollars and clothing. Wallestein arraigned before Judge Harrison with trial set for June 22. no lawyer yet. Also indicted on four counts for forgery against Jesse Mason for forging Major Holmes Conrad’s name to a 12 50 check drawn April 26 at Farmers and Merchants National Bank. Witnesses included bank official W T Quary and Louis Armel. Mason expected to plead guilty to attempted forgery. cases likely this week. Jury foreman was W S White. Both defendants face penitentiary if convicted.

Trains Debut Popular Service Expands Shenandoah Valley Line
The Shenandoah Special trains added to the Baltimore and Ohio Shenandoah Valley division quickly attract riders. On first northbound trip to Baltimore 66 passengers joined at various stops. crowds at Winchester station praised the service, with Pullman, parlor, and dining cars in heavy use. Fire Destroys Old Dominion Academy at Reliance
A late afternoon blaze leveled the four story Old Dominion Academy in Reliance Warren county destroying the building with an estimated loss over twenty thousand dollars. Insurance covers twenty two thousand on the structure and two thousand on contents. Fire started in the cupola around 3 80 oclock and spread rapidly as residents and visitors flocked to aid. Principal Prof R L Steele saved a piano and papers but the roof collapsed trapping others.
