Stuyvesant Fish argues that a salary cut to 50 000 a year would burden the wealthy less than a cut to 15 a week would burden a low income. He notes the poor would face housing and food reductions, while a 200 000 yearly earner would barely notice. The piece contrasts two income levels and their hardship.
