Old Slave Ellen Gray Dies at 98 in Chambersburg
Ellen Gray, known as Aunt Ellen, the oldest resident of Chambersburg Pennsylvania, died at her home at age ninety eight. Born a slave near Fredericksburg Virginia in 1805 she recalled events from the War of 1812 and the Civil War era. She married young and had ten children eight daughters and two sons. She escaped slave patrols with help from friends and lived in Chambersburg since 1865.

In Frederick County Circuit Court an injunction restrains D N Hensell from seizing Willey & Co stock after he allegedly entered the Middletown store on July 19 and began disposing of goods. Attorneys for H H Larrick secured the order in vacation. 57 creditors including 18 Winchester merchants are named as defendants.

Remains Buried After Transcontinental Return
The remains of Mrs. Alfred V. Davis, who died in Pass Christian Mississippi, were brought to Winchester on the 11 44 Baltimore and Ohio passenger train. Funeral director George W. Kurtz met the party and the burial followed at the local cemetery with Rev Dr White officiating. Her two daughters and two brothers accompanied the procession. Her son Dunbar Davis lies buried in Winchester since November 1888.

Infant Girl Dies at Eight Months Causes Cholera Infantum
Early this morning Katharine Calmes, infant daughter of Mr and Mrs A Moore Calmes, died after a brief illness at their home on South Washington Street. The eight month old child succumbed to cholera infantum. Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 5 30 oclock with Rev Nelson P Dame of Christ Episcopal Church officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Hebron Cemetery.

Mrs. Maggie Athey of North Market street died at 5 30 this morning from blood poisoning developed after hives.
