Ice Found At Cold Spring Near Keyser West Virginia
A local businessman reports large quantities of ice discovered near Cold Spring across New Creek from Edgar Arnolds place above Keyser. Men found three feet of mountain ice with icicles forming as air cooled to 32 degrees, some ice was removed. Arnolds comments say it could serve as cold storage.

The oldest Strasburg resident, Philip Eberly, died at his home aged ninety two after a long illness. He was married to Catherine Windle, who died about ten years ago. Surviving are son Jacob J. Eberly, cashier of Massanutten National Bank, and sisters Mrs. Mary Hammam of Winchester and Mrs. Sarah Haney of Simpson, Minnesota. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 PM from the Lutheran Church with Rev J W Link presiding.

Death of Mr Crowder in Washington car crash near Harrisonburg
An official defended the turnpike company claiming the red warning light was visible from half a mile and that negligence cannot be assigned. The coroner's jury found Crowder died in an automobile accident caused by his excessive speed. Crowder, a prominent local figure, had bought a new Overland car the day before and was returning home from Washington via Winchester when the fatal crash occurred ten miles north of Harrisonburg.

Attempt To Wreck The Federal Express
In Danbury Connecticut on July 3 a third attempt to wreck the Federal Express bound from Washington to Boston was made when a tie was wedged into a frog 200 yards from Gall Road station. The freight locomotive from Maybrook to New Haven struck the obstruction wrecking the locomotive and tearing up track. The Federal was flagged and held until the wreck was cleared.

Body of Bert Kelso Brought Back to Highview
The 45 year old Bert Kelso, part of a long established Highview family in Hampshire County West Virginia, was killed on a railroad near Howard Colorado on August 12 1912. His body, disinterred and sealed in a metal case, arrived in Winchester on Baltimore and Ohio train 35 at 9 this morning accompanied by his widow and three children. They will proceed to Highview for burial in the Timber Ridge Christian Church cemetery.

Berkeley man Fred L Fizer dies by hanging in penitentiary
Fred L. Fizer of Berkeley county, imprisoned for murderous assault on Otto Myers and J Beatty and their housekeeper, committed suicide in his Moundsville penitentiary cell by hanging with a rope made from undergarments. He was 87, had family in the area, and had served about four years with two months completed. Reports suggested possible mistreatment or insanity claims, but trial records indicated he knew right from wrong.

Delightful Soldiers Dance At Affleck Barracks
The Second Virginia Regiment soldiers held a large dance on the second floor of the Affleck building on North Market street. The event featured the Citizens Band from 6:30 pm to 10:30 pm and the band played again until midnight. Officers and enlisted men attended, with about 125 civilians present. The floor was praised, orange juleps circulated, and militiamen planned future dances in the coming seasons.
