Fight Against The Railroad Monopoly In Virginia
Richmond January 22 The fight against the Richmond Fredericks burg and Potomac Railroad is in earnest. A House committee heard the matter with state proxies opposing repeal while railroad men and sinking fund commissioners were heard. The opposition seeks to delay repeal until a line to the Rappahannock river is built with protections for the state's interest. The committee will hear further argument, each side four hours, as the House committee of courts of justice favors the repeal bill introduced by Delegate Alden Bell. The measure would let the state introduce scientific and medical evidence to resolve assaults and allow innocence to be proven for those wrongly accused. the bill will be debated in the House tomorrow.
