Death of Levi Mayhew at 402 South Main Street
Levi Mayhew aged 76 died about 2 this morning at his home. Funeral likely at 3 p m tomorrow from the residence with Rev. Nelson P Dame officiating. He was a stone mason born in Frederick county and lived most of his life in Winchester. Survived by a widow eight children and numerous grandchildren. One son Henry died in a hail storm about fifteen years ago in the Opequon.

Nearly Drowned While Out Skating
Edward Ritter of Winchester Woolen Mills narrowly escaped drowning while skating at the Paper Mill dam south of town. An air hole and cracked ice caused him to fall in, and Emmet Henry Jumped in to rescue him before he could be submerged. Both were drenched but survived the incident.

Annie Thompson widow of Robert Thompson colored, died at 4:25 Monday morning at age 75. Born in Winchester, Virginia, she suffered a paralytic stroke a year and three months ago and another stroke on Friday left her unable to rally.
