Judge Thomas W. Harrison overruled the railroad’s demurrer in Shenandoah County circuit court. The case, from the November term, awarded $7,600 to Walter F. Darnell’s widow for his death after a switching engine struck him in the Strasburg yards. The verdict was $7,500 on plaintiff evidence and may rise to the Virginia Supreme Court on contributory negligence.
