Bishop J W Hott Dies in Dayton D D LL D United Brethren Leader
Bishop James William Hott D D LL D of the United Brethren Church in Christ died at his son in law Rev Mr Huber's home in Dayton Ohio aged fifty seven. Funeral in Dayton will be attended by prominent clergy from across the United States. He was born in Cedar Grove this county and connected with many church and mission roles including editor of the Religious Telescope and president of the Home and Foreign Mission Board. He married twice and is survived by three daughters and two sisters, with several brothers also ministers.

Captured Engines During Civil War
Mr. Edward Jenkins of Mount Savage Maryland died at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Born 1836 in Berryville Virginia he served the Confederacy throughout the Civil War. He was first lieutenant with Virginia State militia at John Brown’s execution and later with Sixth Virginia Cavalry. He served as vidette for Fitzhugh Lee at the Wilderness and day officer at Martinsburg when locomotives were captured and hauled to Winchester.

Murderous cat killing and burning at Hotel Evans cellar
A maltese cat belonging to Mrs. R. E. Yowell was murdered in the Hotel Evans cellar. Worker Mack White killed the pet with a club and burned the body in the hotel furnace after a guest offered money to remove the animal. The case was witnessed by Mr. Burgess who exposed the act and questioned White. Mrs. Yowell valued the cat highly and had been offered $15 for it.

Baltimore Railroad Superintendent Mauled by Protruding Beam
Mr Maurice O Conner superintendent of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad was seriously hurt last night in a yard accident. He walked home after a beam protruding from railroad ties struck his mouth sending him to the ground. He suffered severe mouth cuts and several teeth loosened.

Parsons Man Receives Gold Watch for Railroad Service
A. B. Manning, general superintendent of bridges and buildings on the M. E. and T. railway, was surprised with a gold watch and chain valued at $250 by his foremen in Parsons. The presentation at A. O. U. W. Hall No. 1 followed a committee escort and speech by Dr. Stanley Tinder, with over fifty attendees and a celebratory banquet. Manning, formerly Parsons head of the north end, was praised for 12 years of work before his March promotion to the entire system’s bridges and buildings.
